Teacher taking attendance in the morning (single day):

  • Teacher takes daily attendance at PK –

  • 6th
  • 6th off the ‘attendance’ class (period is ATT).

    • PK – takes attendance 2x a day b/c of half day sessions.

  • 8th grade take attendance off the

  • Teachers take attendance at beginning of the day (day by day):

    • Click on the chair.

    • Choose the attendance code and then click on the student’s dropdown.  The value that was in the dropdown is automagically changed for you.

Teachers taking multi-day attendance (knowing a student will be out all week long)

  • Click on the grid.

  • Choose the attendance code and then click on the student’s rows for all the dates that the student will be absent.  The value that was in the dropdown is automagically changed for you.

  • Need to leave a comment for the office?  Click on the comment box next to the dropdown and submit.

  • If a dropdown is blank, then the student is considered present.

For this example, we see that Nicholas will be out Tuesday (8/7) – Monday (8/13).

SECRETARY SIDE:

  1. Find all the teachers who have not taken attendance:

    1. Run the PowerTeacher attendance report

      1. Start Page > Attendance > PowerTeacher Attendance

      2. Choose ATT period (K-6), P1 for JH, either AAM or APM period for MPC

      3. Click Submit.

      4. View the report when finished and feel free to get those teachers to submit their attendance.  

  2. Student comes in tardy (at roughly 9:30a.m.) who was already marked as absent:

    1. Find the student

    2. Attendance > Click on the letter of day

    3. Choose an appropriate attendance code, enter in a comment if necessary

    4. Enter in a time in and time out.  The minutes present will be automagically calculated after being saved.

Different reports:

Find all students who are absent:

  1. Start Page > Attendance > Absentee Report

  2. Choose daily from the attendance mode dropdown.

  3. DON’T CHOOSE A PERIOD

  4. Choose “A” and “AUX” (CTRL key and click to select multiple NOT in a continuous list)

  5. Submit

  6. View the report when finished.  This will give you a list as to who was absent or Absent Unexcused for the day.
