Log into the application.
Click on Student Setup button
Click on the Application Access button.
Choose the school, if you’re at multiple schools.
You can choose multiple students or a single student.
When assigning multiple students a liscense, you’ll also want to make sure that the students will all share the same lead teacher.For Multiple students: Select the first student in the list that you want to assign a liscense to. Hold the shift button your keyboard, and then select the bottom student.
Click on the “Manage Access to Read Live” button.
Click on the “Add liscenses for selected” button. to add a liscense.
Then select a lead teacher for all these students.
Click ok.

Have the student log into the student platform using their userid and password that you created.

Click on the tile of conduct placement.
Choose the tile of “No, I am working by myself”. (If a student chooses Teacher is with me, it’ll ask the teacher to log in and then go through the steps of teacher led placement steps).

Before the student does anything else, you’ll want to watch the video that appears as it’ll show the student how to navigate around on the page. They can re-watch the video by clicking on the video icon with the question mark in the bottom left hand side.
BEFORE starting… you’ll want to remind the students about:
Speak clearly and loudly so that the microphone can hear them.
Keep reading even if they are stuck on a word.
Turn the guided reading on or off (instructions)
If there a page turn in a mulit-page story, how to use the next button to turn the page before the bell sounds. (instructions)
If they finish the entire story before the bell sounds, click on the finished button.
Click on start timing and begin reading outloud for 1 minute.
TIP: Advise that the student should read OUTLOUD and CLEARLY.
When the bell sounds, the student will click on the last word that they read.
You might need to wait a few minutes for it to show up. If the level was too easy, then it’ll ask them to re-try another story to get a better idea where to place. Rinse and repeat until it says that there’s a level and story goal that seems like a good fit for the student.
Click next.
The screen now shows the list of stories that are within the student’s level and they can begin working.

Go to Student Activity > expand the caret for the student > application -specific applications > change story options.
Students: Working within the program - Read Naturally Live
Log into the platform.
Click on Read Naturally Live.
If the student has multiple programs assigned to them, they can choose the program in which they want work with.
Once they’re within the platform, they can swap between different programs at the teachers' discretion by opening the hamburger icon.
It’ll ask the student to choose a story to begin working with and if they want to confirm the story choice. Now onto the steps for the student… (Note: From the customizing the program for students, these can be turned on / off or adjusted to make it harder / easier for the students).
Step 1 - Key Words:
Next screen is the key words screen - clicking on each key word it’ll read the definitions and examples.
Click Next once all the key words have been listened to.
Step 2 - Predictions
Using the key words that they just learned about along with an image to make a prediction about the story. (Note: The box only remembers what is typed. So the teacher can scribe the response into the box and/or use other tools as necessary to get something entered into this box, but it is also required).
Step 3 - Cold Timinigs
While waiting for the teacher, the bars will go red and the student can work for independently. The red bars is a visual indicator for you to assist.
Click the “Conduct Cold Timings” button, enter in your credentials and then have a seat next to the student.
This screen is very similar to the placement – options to turn on / off with the reading guide. It’ll give the student 1 minute to read.
If there is a word that is difficult or unknown to the student, have them click on the word and keep going. The system will keep track of this and take into account for the score.
Clicking Next - it’ll show the goal vs how the student did. Through the next steps of the program, it’ll help the student reach their goal.
