To Transfer a student from one school to another school (within district):
Step A: If the student has a schedule make sure to drop the schedule. If you are at the campus, you might want to keep some sort of printout before dropping those classes (just in case the student shows back up :))
Find the student
...
Courses and Programs > Preferred schedule screen
To drop the classes, click on
...
Courses and Programs > Modify Schedule
...
> Drop all.
Step B: Transfer out of OLD school (makes active to inactive)
Find the student in the old school.
...
School Enrollment > Transfer
...
Out Of School > double check that you are transferring out the student. Transfer comment is optional, but the date (date of attendance + 1) is required. Choose an appropriate exit code as well.
Check the box IF the student would come back to the school during the same school year. Otherwise, the transfer process automatically clears the next year school and next year grade out.
Marked that date for the future? Don't worry, you'll need to wait until the nightly process for PowerSchool to update itself and the student becomes active. For example, it's 8/15/2018, but you know on the 8/21 he'll be at the new school, so you enter in 8/20 as the date of transfer. You'll need to wait until 8/20/2018 for the nightly update process to automatically turn him to 'inactive'.
Step C: Transfer to ANOTHER school (in district)
The student is now inactive out of the old building. But now, you need to move that student to the new building.
...
Find the student. The name will now show in grey as the student is inactive. (you may also need to use the "/" to find the student).
...
School Enrollment > Transfer to another school.
Choose the appropriate school.
Congratulations! That student has now been moved to the new school, but they are inactive. You'll want to contact the new building secretary as the student is now inactive in their school.
Step D: Make the student active at the new building.
Find the student who is inactive in the new school.
...
School Enrollment> Re-Enroll in School > Fill out the form
Choose No for "Restore Class Enrollments".
If you by chance are re-enrolling the student at the same school the student transferred out from, it CAN create a duplicate copy of the schedule.
Step E: Student had fees that were applied from the old school and still apply at the new school?
...
Go to
...
Transactions > MBA
...
Fees
...
See this?
...
Click the “Roll Fee” button to roll the fee from the old school to the new school.
After doing so, you’ll see it show up at your school under the reports with the words:
