    Background

    Callone (current telecom provider) is ending our TDM/PRI contract in November of 2020 and we need to go to SIP. This would reset our contract renewals to November, making it hard to really look at new VOIP solutions/providers since any big change over should be done in summer.

    Current state

    Migrating Jones FreePBX Server to MES as our highest priority.

    Plan out how to do it nicely for other buildings.

    Quick Notes to do:

    Export Extensions from production server

    Massage extensions import file to include the new secret 

    Update TFTP boot files to include new secret /password.

    Import extensions per building/location

    Copy over voicemail folders

    add custom extensions (007) code from old server to new server

    Before Flipping

    • Get Recordings and upload to New Server
    • Export Extension and update new secrets
    • Get Phone configs and update for the switch over


    After Flipping - Must Do Right Away

    • Import Front Office Extensions
    • Create Ring Group for the Front Office
    • Create IVR for outside number
    • Create Misc Application point to IVR
    • Go on other phone servers if needed to update Outbound Routes to point to new server - if needed

    Update the Paper Insert for the Side Car

    Update the Side Car Configuration

    The side car is the box with all the speed dial buttons.

    To update the configuration you will need the IP address of the phone can be found by going to the FreePBX https://phones.min201.org 

    At the top go to Reports → Asterisk Info then click Peers on the right and scroll down to the CHANSIP section.  This will give you Extension and IP address

    highlight the IP address and right-click go to xx.xx.xx.xx


    This is only for the Linksys 962  some principals may have different manufacture and model  this is the most common for secretaries.

    On the phone homepage click on Admin Login then click on Advanced

    Now click on the SPA932 tab in the menu bar this page should look like something below

    Now we must update the entries to turn on BLF (Buddy Light Feature - changes the color of the button if the person is on the phone) and updating the server address.  You will add a blf+ in front of the sd in each line 

    Before

    fnc=sd;sub=7001@10.31.1.100;nme=Connie


    After

    fnc=blf+sd;sub=7001@phones.min201.org;nme=Connie


    Add the blf+ to all internal extensions and change the server ip to phones.min201.org for all entries
