How does it work in PS?
Find the student and adjust the “Currently Homebound” Yes / No dropdown on the 201 custom demographics screen.
Optionally, update the home bound notes.
Example of the student alert when currently homebound = Yes
(Optionally) At the school level, you may want to drop the student from classes.
Reasoning:
This will “stop” any grades from being entered for the student;
This will “stop” the student from showing on some reports – such as a class report if going on a field trip (because the student isn’t enrolled in that class).
What if I don’t want to drop the student from their classes because it’s a really short term (as in less than 3 weeks but more than 10 days)?
Then the teachers will want to exclude the student from the assignments that they’re missing in their gradebook and essentially that final grade (if applicable) will “freeze”.
When the student comes back off homebound instruction, you can re-enroll the student back into classes. It’ll show as a drop then re-enter.
Example: red classes = dropped classes.If at MPC - this step probably isn’t necessary, as they only take meeting attendance and therefore will need to be enrolled in the class for their attendance to show up as expected (since no daily attendance taken there).
If the student will be homebound for the entire school year, then there’s probably no need to schedule the student at all.
If at MPC - then the state attendance will need to be handled after the fact / updated manually in the state.
At the school level, update the student’s attendance for the date range where the student will be homebound (everyone except MPC)
Note: If the student doesn’t have any classes at this point at JH / MIS - mark it only under daily.
