eLearning Attendance Adjustments
Summary:
After the e-learning work deadline has passed, teachers need to update historical classroom attendance based on their completion of work. As a teacher, you are only changing students to absent for those who did not complete work. Students who did work (or participated) are kept present (blank) like a normal day of school.
Warning:
You are only adjusting attendance for classes you assigned work during an E-Learning day and the student did not complete it. Do not adjust “advisory/study hall/attendance/lunch” classes attendance unless specifically instructed to do so.
Full Year (or both A and B day classes) Steps:
Log into PowerSchool for teachers
Click on the take attendance chair icon for the class you need to now edit
In the “date” dropdown, choose the appropriate date that you need to change. For our example, we’ll choose Friday, Jan 12th since that’s the day that the work was assigned.
After the screen refreshes, you can then change the student’s attendance by changing the attendance code to Absent, then clicking on the dropdown next to each student’s name, or changing each student individually from [present] to absent.
Optionally, you can also add a comment to indicate a reason for why the absent was changed by clicking on the comment box next to the attendance code.
When done, click submit to submit the attendance code change and the optional comment for that day.
“A”/”B” day specific or Changing a previously completed quarter
For an already completed quarter rotational class or where the class is an “A” day, but today is a “B” day and the chair / take attendance icon is greyed out, click on multi-day attendance, instead of the regular "take attendance" / chair icon.
When here, you can then change the attendance code for the day in the past. The darker colored days were days that school wasn't in attendance, while the lighter grey were days where the class met but historical attendance cannot be changed. While the “whiter” column is the day(s) where it can get changed.
