Creating Assignments

1. Log into powerschool https://min201.powerschool.com/teachers/

2. Once signed in, navigate to “PowerTeacher Pro”

3. Click on the “+” button at the top right of the screen, and select assignment.

4. Now you will need to fill out the “Assignment” section.

  • Classes

    • Here you can choose if the assignment is for all of your classes, or just particular ones. If you wish to assign something to particular students, you will learn how when we get to the “Students” section.

  • Assignment Name

  • Category

    • Here, you will select the appropriate category that the assignment belongs to.

    • For K-2, select K-2 Standards only

  • Due Date

    • Select a due date for the assignment. You will be able to set the publish date later in the “Publish” section.

    • NOTE: The due date of the assignment dictates which quarter the assignment’s grade will be attached to.

  • Score Type

    • This will in general be points for 3-8.

    • This will in general be collected only for K-2.

  • Extra points/Weight

    • To add extra points, or a specific weighting to your assignment, click the appropriate buttons.

      •  

  • For score entry / points - this is the total number of points that the assignment that a student could receive on the assignment.

  • The “Count in Traditional Final Grade” should remain check if you wish for the assignment to do so.

  • Finally, fill in the description of what the assignment is.

 

5. Now move on to the “Students” section.

  • You only need to use this screen if you are creating an assignment for specific students, rather than an entire class.

    • Click show all to select specific students.

       

6. Now move on to the “Standards” tab

  • To add a standard to the assignment, place a checkmark next to the standard.

  • If you do not wish to count the standard in the final grade, uncheck the count in grade checkbox.

     

7. Now move on to the “Publish” section.

  • This section allows you to set when the assignment will be visable to students and parents.

  • You can also choose if you want the scores to be published as well.

 

8. Once you have filled everything out, hit save and close.

  • Your assignment will now appear under your assignment list and scoresheet.

  • You can go back to edit or delete the assignment by clicking the pencil icon next to it.
